Flexible  Electronics for Sustainable Technologies

The Flexible Electronics for Sustainable Technologies (FEST) is a newly established research group in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.

The aim of FEST is to link the development of novel devices and materials with emerging energy applications that require enhanced reliability, mechanical flexibility, large-area, and low-power consumption. This effort will lead towards developing truly sustainable technologies based on conformable soft devices.

Some of our current projects include the development of:

  • additive manufacturing of electronic and biological systems
  • large-area flexible platforms using dip-pen nanolithography
  • mechanical reliability models for flexible electronics
  • flexible, stretchable, and active touch sensors
  • unconventional energy harvesters based on rolling motion
  • biodegradable electronic devices

We collaborate with groups within the Statler College of Engineering, WVU, and elsewhere (US, Europe, Asia) in order to complement our current expertise and advance our knowledge about such systems.
