Dr. Dadyburjor serves also as a Resident Faculty Fellow at the National Energy Technology Laboratory of the US Department of Energy.  His research interests are primarily in heterogeneous catalysis and the production of fuels and chemicals from indigenous and cheap feedstocks. Research topics include the deactivation and regeneration of catalysts, the design of novel catalysts specific for selective reactions, the production of synthesis gas (a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen) from natural gas (methane), and products from synthesis gas.
Current projects include the production of diesel and gasoline fuels from synthesis gas and/or biomass, and the design of catalysts for water-gas shift reactions. Recent projects include production of useful chemicals from green- house gases, the production of high-molecular-weight alcohols, the design and use of cheap catalysts for hydrotreatment, specifically hydrodenitrogenation reactions, and of disposable catalysts in coal liquefaction, the co-liquefaction of coal and waste materials such as used tires, the activity-selectivity-coking behavior of cracking catalysts, and diagnoses of deactivation in zeolite catalysts.
Dr. Dadyburjor is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council for Chemical Research, where he serves as the academic lead for the Action Network for Research Collaboration.  He is also on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Fuel Chemistry and Technology. During 1997-2000, Dr. Dadyburjor served as a Guest Professor at the Institute of Coal Chemistry, China; he has been a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Berkeley; at the Fritz-Haber-Institut, Germany; and also at Switzerland, Israel, and Japan. He has given several keynote and plenary lectures: in 1998, he was a keynote speaker at the Fourteenth National Symposium in Catalysis in India, and in 1987 he gave the keynote talk at the Fourth International Symposium on Catalyst Deactivation. He has been a member of several Program Committees, including the Executive Committee for the 11th International Congress on Catalysis, 1996. In 1983, he was Co-Chairman of the first Engineering Foundation Conference on Chemical Reaction Engineering. Dr. Dadyburjor is a Fellow of AIChE.  He serves as Councilor of the Pittsburgh Local Section of AIChE.  He has served as Chair of Area 1b (Kinetics, Catalysis and Reaction Engineering) of the National Program Committee of AIChE (currently Section 20 of AIChE).
